15 years ago this week, I put the final edits on my 501c3 Application for Life Preservers Inc. I was truly winging it, with barely any funds, I had drafted the complex application on my own. This was a “big little idea” as a dear friend pointed out and its mission was too important to not try my best.
Today, I decided to run a little trail run 15K in honor of those 15 years and all the ups and downs. As I ran, I reflected on the mission and the blessings of the donors, board and volunteers who are the backbone of this project.
When we started, most people thought human trafficking happened to other people in other countries, and rarely did people understand it’s a billion dollar industry here in the US and globally that is predominantly comprised of labor trafficking. Though we also know the trauma and horrors of sex trafficking are a stark reminder of the evil that people do.
I’m hoping to raise $1500 or more this week to commemorate the 15th year. I’ll match it if we get there.
