Highlights
The NHL has shown today in its handling of the Ivan Provorov situation that in an effort to be inclusive through its Hockey Is For Everyone platform, the league actually stands for absolutely nothing. What does this message say to the marginalized communities this “initiative” is apparently meant to support?
Will fans be tuning in now to warmups just to see which players don’t support inclusivity, the military, cancer research, Black History Month or reconciliation with First Nations often celebrated or commemorated with warmup jerseys?
Bad look NHL and Flyers.
My dad was a photographer by trade. He photographed weddings, concerts, festivals, events, and kids’ teams and clubs. He worked almost 24/7 and if you asked him why there aren’t many photographs of me or my family growing up, he would say the shoemaker’s kids don’t have new shoes either.
That same logic applies to why I’ve been pretty quiet on here this year. Working with wonderfully collaborative clients on interesting and engaging projects has left me with little time to do much self-promotion or PR.
I am not complaining one bit. I’m so very thankful for the opportunity to keep doing what I’m doing and to keep finding new and exciting work that is both fulfilling and rewarding.
Wishing everyone who reads this happy holidays spent with the people that matter most to you doing the things you love to do the most. Best wishes for a healthy, happy and prosperous 2023!
