Is Farcaster the next BIG social media?
In one of my recent posts about the attention economy, I suggested that you look towards “blue oceans” as one strategy to better stand out.
With blue oceans I mean social networks that may not have as many users present, but where it is a lot easier to cut through the noise and therefore get attention. Additionally being early means that you will have setup a natural advantage over late comers that will have to build their communication style and audience on the new platform.
There isn’t many obvious opportunities out there and there's always the risk that you’re too early and you join a platform that doesn’t have the right audience or it never takes off.
One such blue ocean right now is Farcaster, a decentralised social media that was launched in 2021 and opened up for the public in the fall of last year. Their daily active user count has grown no less than 17X since the start of the year and looks set to continue this rapid growth.
