What is your vision for the future of industry? 💡 For me, it is about doing more with less, making a positive impact and being open to collaboration!
One of the things I love most about my job is discussing this vision with different people. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to do that at RWTH Aachen University. Students, faculty members and anyone else who was interested shared their own visions for industry – and gave me feedback on mine.
Thanks for the lively discussion on why data is the most valuable resource to digital technologies, why we need to think about small language models instead of large ones, and the importance of cultural change in companies to make digital transformation happen. Here's a summary of what's at the heart of my vision for the future of industry: the industrial metaverse.
The industrial metaverse enables us to have real-world impact through the digital world. For example, we can digitally design an entire factory virtually, before we pour the first ounce of concrete. This allows us to optimize workflows, reduce downtime, and avoid wasting resources like energy or water. By seamlessly integrating the real and digital worlds, we enable our customers to make industrial operations more sustainable.
For it to really change the future, we need to scale the industrial metaverse! And to do that, we need to work together in a strong ecosystem. There's no better way to foster that ecosystem than to get out there, talk to people, and share ideas.
Thanks RWTH Aachen and everyone who was there for the inspiring exchange and proving once again how important the collaboration with research institutions is for the future of industry.

The theme of this year's Hannover Fair is "Energizing a Sustainable Industry". The key to achieving this goal is technology, which our Siemens booth impressively demonstrates.
Here are my three key takeaways from the on and off stage conversations I had at the show: 💡 80% of a product's carbon footprint comes from the design phase: By implementing EcoDesign principles and creating a circular economy, we can minimize waste and reuse valuable materials.
💡 Artificial intelligence is helping us design more sustainable products: For example, Siemens used generative design to reduce the CO2 footprint of a gripper by up to 90%.
💡 The future of industry lies in the industrial metaverse: This is where we will save resources with real-time simulation, collaborate across different continents, and securely exchange data to improve production. Most importantly, we need to think in ecosystems. No one can "energize a sustainable industry" alone. Every year, Hannover Fair becomes the perfect place to do just that: Strengthen the existing ecosystems and find new partners. Let's take advantage of this opportunity this week and throughout the rest of the year. Thank you to everyone who helped make the outstanding Siemens booth a reality, and to everyone who is working to give all visitors the best experience possible!
Thank you to my inspiring co-panelists with whom I had the opportunity to discuss current challenges: Ulrich Homann, Christian Winkler, Karsten Heuser, Margherita Adragna, Ludwig von Reiche, Christina Raab, and Peter D'haese. Thank you to Maren Courage for giving me the opportunity to speak about the business opportunities of the industrial metaverse and to the BDI - Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie e.V. for having me at their Industrial Metaverse Summit. It was a pleasure working with all of you! If you are in Hannover, be sure to visit our Siemens booth or check out our stage program online: https://lnkd.in/d7cU_M6n
