Oh boy... acceptance speech time. #creisummit ranked me #44, which considering the company isn't so bad! The past 4 years on #linkedin have been an interesting journey. My key takeaway: just get started...
2020 was the catalyst that made me get active on this platform. Sitting at home all day with no events, no outings, no golf, no Detroit Athletic Club, zoom meetings all day, I knew something needed to change (especially after I finished up Tiger King). Watching people like Natalie, Ward, Ken, Dan, & Conrad build a network inspired me to get in gear, and I'm glad I did. A special thank you goes to Jon for encouraging me to post.
One problem: I didn't know what to do. I was afraid to post, and I kept letting the perfect get in the way of pretty good. Finally, I just started posting homemade videos of myself out in the market, and I found my footing from there.
It's been nothing but beneficial for my business, and I've made some great friends in and outside of the business. My key lesson to all potential #linkedin folks: just start posting stuff. It doesn't need to be perfect. In some respects, it's better when it comes from you instead of the corporate gobbledygook. At the very least, think of it this way: if Pete McGrath can do it, you can certainly do it...
I would like to thank the #creisummit folks for pulling this list together, and Ken - I'm looking forward to seeing you in Atlanta. Also, congrats to Bob Kyle Justin Steven Barry Harrison DeLea Mark Robert Kim Vinny EDDIE Marcus Scott Hagood John Jeff and everyone else that made the list. As far as I'm concerned.. if you're that list and we don't know each other, you're just I haven't met.
Btw, within Savills, I'm proud to report that I beat Gabe Marans yet again! Gabe went from #1 to #2, just one place... I jumped from #23 to #44: try to keep up Marans! 😉

#madeinusasaturday is back, and the Eklind Tool Company hex key set gets the call! Made to last, and I can't say enough about 'em. If you own a home or even if you're still in an apt, get a set. It will make your life easier.
I bought these a couple years back at the venerable Pointe Hardware, and I'm glad I have them. They work wonders for putting toys and furniture together, and more importantly, taking things apart. Many of the products we get from overseas come with a cheap allen wrench that inevitably get's lost. Having these around the house helps cover that issue. This set comes in Metric and SAE form, and features the ball-hex at the long end helps me dig into things at different angles and loosen things up. The case is made well, and the finishing on the actual wrenches is top notch—it avoids rust and feels great in the hand.
As an added bonus, the Eklind Tool Company is 100 years old as of this year. They're based in Franklin Park, IL, and offer a solid line of hand tools that are priced fairly, made to last, and built right just outside of Chicago.
