Peter Thompson

Associate Rector for Formation and Liturgy at St. Bart's

Peter Thompson is a clergyman who served as Associate Rector for Formation and Liturgy at St. Bartholomew's Church (St. Bart's) in New York from February 2019 to July 2021.2 He was then appointed Vicar in July 2021, a position he currently holds.1

As Vicar, Thompson works closely with the Rector in managing and implementing programming for the parish. He leads worship, liturgy, adult education, and formation programs, while also sharing in sacramental, preaching, and teaching duties.1

Thompson joined the Episcopal Church at a young age through the chorister program at Washington National Cathedral. He is a graduate of Columbia and Yale universities and previously served as Assistant Rector at St. Paul's on the Green in Norwalk, Connecticut.13

Outside of his clerical duties, Thompson sings with the Young New Yorkers Chorus, enjoys long-distance running, and is an enthusiastic fan of the New York City theatre scene.1
