Phil Kim is a K-12 STEM education expert with a strong background in systems-level curriculum implementation and operationalization.

He holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Urban Education: Policy and Administration from Loyola Marymount University and a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Bucknell University.

Currently, Phil Kim serves as the Senior Director of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Achievement at the KIPP Foundation.

In the past, he has held various roles at KIPP Foundation, including Director of Science, Technology, and Engineering Instruction, and Manager of Science & Design, Computer Science, and Engineering (DCE) at KIPP Bay Area Public Schools.

Phil Kim has also been actively involved in the educational field by running for the Board of Education at the San Francisco Unified School District.

His journey through education includes positions such as Innovation Manager & Personalized Learning, Research, Evaluation, and Partnerships at KIPP Bay Area Public Schools, Consultant at the Internal Working Group Science Leadership Team & STEM Guiding Coalition at KIPP Foundation, and Science Department Chair at KIPP Bay Area Public Schools.

Before transitioning into leadership roles, Phil Kim started as a Grade 7 Life Science Teacher at KIPP Bay Area Public Schools and served as a 2012 Corps Member at Teach for America.

His passion for educational equity and the power of technology and data to enhance teaching and learning is evident in his diverse experiences within the education sector.
