Before establishing Meritize, Phillip gained valuable experience at reputable financial institutions like Capital One, J.P. Morgan, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. His roles involved building econometric and financial models, executing major corporate capital market transactions, developing consumer credit strategies, and contributing during the Great Recession at the central bank.

Phillip's expertise spans various financial domains, including quantitative analytic techniques, credit strategy, financial markets, and public policy. His educational background includes a Master of Business Administration from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, a Master of Public Policy with a focus on Urban Policy from The George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Policy Studies, and Political Science with Honors from Rice University, along with a high school diploma from Cedar Hill High School.

Throughout his career, Phillip has held key positions such as Co-Founder and Chief Credit & Analytics Officer at Meritize, Vice President of Academic Data Products at MeasureOne, Senior Manager of Credit Risk and Strategy at Capital One, Investment Banking Associate at J.P. Morgan, Senior Economic Analyst at Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Business Consultant at BearingPoint, and various other roles in prestigious organizations.
