Leading with influence: What, why and how
The ability to influence others is a key trait for leader and one I explicitly look for when hiring. Compared to leading with authority, leading with influence builds stronger teams, develops better ideas, and ultimately delivers more for the organization. As someone who has worked for and managed many leaders over the years, I can attest that the best leaders exert influence more than they wield authority.
That's why I wrote my latest blog post about how to build influence and why it should matter to you as a leader. Check it out and let me know in the comments how you approach leadership through influence.

At Thumbtack, our users — the customers and pros on our marketplace — set our priorities.
Last week, we launched our all new app experience. Leading up to this, our User Research team conducted an in-depth analysis of Thumbtack customers’ needs — all of which informed the new app design and its 30+ new features. We heard from homeowners in particular that they struggle to know how to best care for their homes and stay accountable when looking to complete home projects. Advice often feels both time-consuming to search for, and unrelated to their specific goals and their home's needs.
