With the #BSOD overflow in the last few days, let's revisit some history facts:
🔹 Early Days: The #BSOD made its debut with Windows 1.0 in the mid-1980s, serving as a diagnostic tool that displayed critical system errors.
🔹The modern #BSOD, characterized by a blue background and error messages, was introduced with Windows 3.1 in 1992, which provided clearer error reporting and system messages.
🔹 Windows 95 Era: In the 1990s, as personal computing boomed, the BSOD became more familiar to everyday users. It indicated a severe system error, often related to hardware or driver issues, requiring a reboot.
🔹 Modern Iterations: Fast forward to Windows 10 and 11, the BSOD has evolved, featuring QR codes for easier troubleshooting and a more user-friendly design. While still a critical error screen, it’s become a symbol of the complex dance between hardware and software.
#BSOD reminds us of the challenges and advancements in computing technology. As we strive for seamless user experiences, the BSOD stands as a testament to the ongoing journey of innovation, improvement and sadly some real stress sometimes.

Here are 5 of the most common mistakes I've seen people do when considering a nearshore engagement with a tech & software partner:
1/ Last resort option - they start looking when things have gone so wrong that's it's almost impossible to revert and that often backfires. 2/ Operational rather than strategic outlook - explore ways to fill gaps rather than prevent them from happening 3/ Resource mentality - when quantity > quality 4/ Don't expect to be challenged - that's actually a big part of the value you could receive from such an engagement 5/ Low-cost poise - call 100+ partners, ask for nothing but quotes and put them all in a spreadsheet. Then expect things to work out. That's rarely the case though.
What has been your experience?
