Policy and campaign work is often unpaid. Finding opportunities is hard, especially if you're not well-connected or from the "right" background. This is particularly true for community college students, whose unique perspectives are absent from politics.

Roughly a third of all undergraduate students come from 935 community colleges, yet only five percent of Congresspeople are community college grads. Community college students are similarly underrepresented in jobs across the political spectrum, which means that their local, hard-working perspectives even more absent from the halls of power.

Michael Ceraso is one of the community college students who made it. In the six years that I've known him, he's been a political trailblazer who's done it all – from building campaigns for underrepresented candidates in rural communities to running state-wide operations for multiple presidential campaigns. Throughout all of his work, he's also been relentless about creating accessible opportunities for others.

Mike recently introduced me to Community Groundwork, his emergent nonprofit that is formalizing a lot of what he was already doing but at scale. Via engaging workshops, powerful mentorship opportunities, and paid jobs and internships, Community Groundwork has already given over 100 students the tools and latitude needed to blaze new trails in our political system.

Community Groundwork needs your help to fund and scale its programs to help every community college student answer their call to public service! I'm co-hosting this year's first fundraiser in Los Angeles, and I'd be thrilled if you could attend and support this work in person. If you can't attend the fundraiser, I'd be equally grateful for your tax-deductible contribution towards our $10,000 fundraising goal!

With the 2024 elections coming up, it's never been more critical to ensure that we're training a more diverse and inclusive generation of leaders and activists. Every dollar raised goes directly towards supporting these students' dreams, and your donation can help change the trajectory of someone's life.

If you're interested in supporting a great cause where you can make an outsized impact, please click on the link below and consider attending the fundraiser or donating!

And if you're unavailable to donate financially (or are!), I'd appreciate it if you could "donate" a like for my post to help expand its reach and give more folks the opportunity to get involved! 😊
