.

Polina Timofeeva is a Ph.D. student specializing in cognitive neuroscience with a professional background in control engineering.

Having completed her engineering studies in France, Polina embarked on an internship focused on neuroscience, which paved the way for a research engineer position and eventually pursuing a Ph.D.

During her time as a master's student and later as a research engineer, she was involved in creating an experimental setup for a project centered on the "Somatic role of ventrolateral prefrontal cortex in speech motor learning." This endeavor included devising a non-linear control strategy for an ultrasonic motor intended for use inside an MRI environment.

Her current focus revolves around a MEG project involving patients with brain tumors situated in language eloquent regions. Polina's areas of interest encompass brain plasticity, adaptation mechanisms, and utilizing her engineering expertise to enhance the comprehension of cognitive processes. She is particularly enthusiastic about delving into simulation neuroscience post-Ph.D.

Polina has secured a Ph.D. grant from MINECO and received an EMBO short-stay travel grant spanning three months for conducting a project titled "Understanding brain plasticity in the presence of a tumor using a 'virtual lesion approach' with TMS" in Udine, Italy.

Over the span of four years, she has gained experience working with various technologies including fMRI, MEG, TMS, and conducting behavioral experiments. Polina also adeptly handles data analysis using tools such as R, Python, Matlab (Simulink, Fieldtrip, Brainstorm), and FSL.
