Can there be a product that no one wants to use- neither the customer nor the manufacturer?  And if one had to live off simply by selling such product, do you think one could do it? . . . . Well that’s what an insurance product is! The customer hopes that the policy he has bought never gets used, and similarly the company who has sold the policy hopes that the customer never uses it. On top of this, when a customer buys any other product, it finally translates into something tangible - a physical product or a physical / emotional / sensory experience. But in case of an insurance product nowadays, all one gets is a pdf in their email - that’s all. And sometimes one is not even there anymore to experience the emotional relief when the product is finally put to use.

For the second question, the answer is it can be done… that's the mind-blowing journey of Policybazaar.com over the last 15 years.

Thanks to Ashish Tiwari , CMO, Home Credit India for sharing this perspective around insurance products. And thanks to Sai Narayan , CMO, Policybazaar.com for sharing the inspiring story of Policybazaar.

Your resolution is quick, but is it good enough #Uber? . . .

  1. You gave me ₹77 in my Uber wallet. What if I ended up paying more? Wouldn’t you take responsibility for it?₹77 was merely the amount displayed when I chose the auto option to book. I paid him ₹100.

  2. I tried raising a ticket to let you know that I paid extra cash to the driver. But your chatbot says “we unfortunately can’t refund any additional cash you paid the driver.” That’s all. The ticket is closed.

  3. You said you sent me an in-app message. I checked the message, it was merely a pointless survey. Why?

Uber, you can do better! You along with other ride-hailing apps have already revolutionised urban mobility and made this world a better place.

When your support staff had called me, I had put forward 2 requests. But now I would say, I have 2 demands:

  1. Please reach out to each and every person who have shared their unpleasant & shocking experiences in the comments to my initial post.

  2. Please provide a 24x7 customer support number operated by humans for the riders. Once it is live in the app, kindly share the screenshot in comments.

Until these 2 demands are met, please do not consider our concerns as addressed.

PS: A number of persons using Uber mentioned that they did not have to face this situation because they do not use Cash option for booking rides. Have you ever questioned yourself, “Am I paying the same amount that I would have paid had I chosen cash option?”

I was myself paying through my credit card for a long time…. Until one day when I realised that Uber charges me about 11% extra fare for the exact same ride, at the exact same time when I do not choose cash option.

#Uber it would have made more sense for you to be honest with the users and incentivise the non-cash transactions.
