Thrilled to announce that Cisco Umbrella has achieved FedRAMP Authorization to Operate (ATO) in the FedRAMP Marketplace!

https://lnkd.in/g4Zh4Sc8

This milestone underscores Cisco’s unwavering commitment to providing secure and reliable cloud security solutions for our federal customers. Achieving this was no simple feat; given the complexity of modern SASE and SSE control, data, and management planes, it involved a multi-year journey of hard work, patience, and resilience from each dedicated engineer in this program.

This solution enables a holistic cloud-centric security infrastructure for government agencies. It delivers advanced DNS threat intelligence, Protective DNS (PDNS) integration, and secure internet gateway features for enhanced security, flexibility, and compliance. Umbrella for Government is a key part of a full SSE product stack with Cisco Secure Access, addressing the challenging security reality of managing connectivity from anything to anywhere while simultaneously protecting against sophisticated, motivated threat actors.

Cisco is building on this strong foundation to shape the future of the most modern SSE and SASE stack!

A special thank you to Shailaja K. Shankar, Jeetu Patel, Tom Gillis, Rajneesh C. for their unwavering executive support. Their guidance was instrumental in not only getting our sponsor but also helped navigate the complexities of this journey, driving innovation and excellence at every step.

Gratitude to so many Cisco leaders who went above and beyond in making this happen:

Jeff Scheaffer, Ramanathan Ramaswamy, Richard Craighead, Avnish Tyagi, Eric Wang, Murali P., George Chamales, Ashok Javvaji, Sangeeta Ramakrishnan, Prashanth Palasamudram Ramagopal, Michael S., Raymond Wei, Nandana Bolla, Ruchika P., Yogesh Weling, Adam Winn, Jaya Dutta, Claudio Belloli, Gagandeep Singh, Karthik Nagaraju Urs, Rahul Choudhury, Naveen Venugopal

Software engineers—if you thought GenAI would take away software jobs or believed it's just hype OR Engineering leaders - If you desire to safely and substantially accelerate your product development and developer experience, this research may be worth a read:

https://lnkd.in/gqMexbje

Our latest research applies GitHub Copilot to a large software development project, revealing where the reality lies.

Key Takeaways: • Time Savings: Up to 50% time saved in code documentation and autocompletion, 30-40% in repetitive coding tasks, unit test generation, debugging, and pair programming. • Task Performance: Excels at generating new code, though manual input is needed for advanced proprietary code and complex tasks. • Language Effectiveness: Superior in Python, Go, and JavaScript compared to C and C++, where it sometimes struggles with generating useful code. • Enhanced Productivity: Significantly enhances developer productivity, especially for repetitive and boilerplate tasks through autocomplete and code generation. • Areas for Improvement: Integrate secure code evaluation with the AI assisted code generation to align with enterprise risk policy.

Ultimately: It’s a Co-Pilot, not an Auto-Pilot and AI will not replace Software Engineers; it's Software Engineers who use AI that will replace Software Engineers who don't.

A special thanks to our collaborators Ruchika P., Raymond Wei Shailaja K. Shankar Surya Santosh Kumar Allena Nandana Bolla and the brilliant Cisco Secure Access (SSE) engineering group for participating in this study.
