Incredibly grateful to have spent last week back in the Bay Area teaching Applied Innovation for the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business Executive MBA Program alongside my colleagues Sara Beckman, Vivek Rao, David Riemer and Lee Helms. We spent the week guiding the students through the innovation process-- developing mindsets and leveraging methods from design and systems thinking. Each student rooted their work in a problem space that mattered to them and spent time learning to observe behavior, understand systems dynamics, frame insights, design interventions, test assumptions, and tell powerful stories. Along the way, we visited Salesforce, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Hopelab, NewDealDesign, and IDEO to hear about how innovation is implemented in practice. And, we finished the week applying the innovation process to the most important project any of us will ever undertake — designing our lives.
