To be a Jewish author in the world right now is not so easy. Thanks to the incredible initiative of Zibby Owens , I am one of the contributors in the upcoming anthology, ON BEING JEWISH NOW. Its release will coincide with the one year anniversary of the October 7 attacks, and all proceeds go to Artists Against Antisemitism, which Zibby co-founded. There are 75 contributors in all, and what a list that is - all writing stories about Jewish pride, faith and strength. Pre-order available now on Amazon US, Barnes & Noble or through Zibby Media . The goal of Artists Against Antisemitism is “to raise awareness of antisemitism, promote education about Jewish history and culture, help those experience Jewish hate to fight against it, and work to help build a kinder, brighter, more understanding world within the arts."

How heart-stoppingly thrilling it was to learn that my book A Brilliant Life has been longlisted for the extraordinary Margaret and Colin Roderick Literary Award. What a group of writers! The judges said: “Rachelle Unreich, A Brilliant Life, Hachette. In these difficult days with anti-Semitism sweeping the Western world, this tale of survival of the Nazi Holocaust is timely. But it's a story not just survival, but of retaining humanity, optimism and love in the face of the most inhumane and vicious acts.”

I am so grateful that I can continue to get my mother Mira’s story out into the world.

Thank you to James Cook University for this honour. And of course my Australian publisher Vanessa Radnidge / Hachette and my gun of an agent Tara Wynne
