At ‘Breakfast with Spotify’ event in Johannesburg, where we broke bread with the music industry leaders from across Africa - heard about music opportunities across the continent, discussed challenges, and celebrated each other’s wins.
We tried to look into the future of Africa together - where music is one of the top passion points of the consumers, where global artists are emerging rapidly, and which is one of the fastest growing region for music. We also discussed the many issues which need to be solved to realise its full potential, including Piracy.
Spotify team shared their intent to stand alongside artists and the industry, to continue to bring more transparency to the business, to continue giving artists from Africa a global platform, and give more reasons for users and industry to choose music streaming over music piracy.
