Attitude and Aptitude. Give me those two attributes over specific knowledge/experience. More often than not I see organizations over value knowledge and experience vs someone with a great attitude and ability to learn and apply knowledge quickly (aptitude). Some of my best employees have been people that were not in the same industry, didn’t have the a degree in the field I was looking for. I fear that we are relying too much on algorithms to match specific skills. One lesson I learned early in my career was watching a colleague who had one of the highest CPA scores in the country but his attitude got him fired in the first 6 months.
Disaster Recovery planning shouldn’t just refer to systems, it’s also people. Shared services shouldn’t be located in one location but geographically spread out to mitigate risk.
