On July 29th I presented a talk entitled "Overcoming Anti-PEG Antibody Responses to Increase Potency & Decrease Adverse Side Effects of mRNA-LNP Formulations".
The Serina LNP Laboratory has demonstrated that PEOZ-dma fails to elicit an IgM or IgG immune response upon repeat dosing in the rat - under the same conditions, PEG-dma (Acuitas, ALC-0159) elicits a robust immune response (both IgM & IgG). LNPs formulated with PEOZ-dma have other advantageous properties in addition to the absence of an immune response to the polymer lipid.
This finding is crucial because the PEG-lipids currently used in mRNA vaccines can elicit an anti-PEG antibody response. This response is associated with serious adverse events, including anaphylaxis, which can pose a life-threatening risk to patients.

3rd LNP Summit - Boston, MA
On Wednesday May 1st I had the privilege of moderating a panel discussion entitled "The Diary of an LNP Biotech CEO: From Concept to Clinic" with an exceptional group of executives. Chris Lai, Julien Couture-Senecal and Lin-Xian Li are emblematic of the amazing talent that is present in the LNP Community. From a start-up while still a PhD Doctoral Candidate (Azane Therapeutics) to a late-stage development company harnessing the power of AI and machine-learning (METiS Therapeutics) to develop the next generation of LNPs that will target tissues outside the liver - I can say the field is going to change the way we treat diseases dramatically in the next decade. We believe every class of nucleic acid is in play now.
