Randall Rader

Randall R. Rader is a prominent figure in the field of intellectual property law and jurisprudence. He served as a United States Circuit Judge and Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.13 Born on April 21, 1949, in Hastings, Nebraska, Rader had a distinguished career in both the judiciary and academia.1

Judicial Career

Rader was appointed to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit by President George H. W. Bush in 1990.13 He assumed the role of Chief Circuit Judge on June 1, 2010, and served in this capacity until May 30, 2014.1 Prior to this, he was appointed to the United States Claims Court (now the U.S. Court of Federal Claims) by President Ronald Reagan in 1988.13

Known affectionately as "Professor Rader," he has taught patent law and advanced intellectual property courses at several prestigious institutions, including:
