Randolf Jorberg

Head Dreamer at BEERHOUSE by Beer Revolution

Randolf Jorberg is a German entrepreneur and the founder of BEERHOUSE, a craft beer bar concept in South Africa.12 He is known for his distinctive style of wearing yellow every day for over 5 years and his social media presence as @YellowRandolf.5

Jorberg's entrepreneurial journey began at age 17 when he founded gulli.com, which became the largest IT and hacker community in Germany. He sold this business for a significant profit and moved to South Africa, where he conceived the idea for BEERHOUSE in 2012.2 The first BEERHOUSE opened on Long Street in Cape Town on August 2, 2013, with the vision of creating a "365-day-a-year beer festival experience".12

Under Jorberg's leadership as "Head Dreamer," BEERHOUSE expanded to multiple locations across South Africa, offering a wide variety of local and international beers. The concept aimed to support the growing craft beer industry in South Africa and provide a platform for local microbreweries.12

However, Jorberg faced significant challenges, including organized crime and extortion attempts. In 2015, he refused to pay protection money, which led to the tragic assassination of a BEERHOUSE doorman.4 This incident sparked Jorberg's involvement in a campaign against racketeering and extortion in South Africa.5

In August 2024, Jorberg announced the closure of the original BEERHOUSE in Cape Town, citing sustained extortion pressures as a major factor.3 This decision was followed by legal challenges, including a defamation lawsuit from a controversial figure alleged to be involved in local criminal activities.3

As of 2022, Jorberg had left South Africa and was residing in Europe.6 He continues to be involved in various entrepreneurial ventures, including the repurchase of gulli.com in 2018, which he plans to rebuild over the next 20 years.5
