Raoul Calleja

Co-Founder and Curator at ID Pop Shop

Raoul Calleja is an experienced ESL reading and writing instructor based in New York City, currently employed at Borough of Manhattan Community College in the CUNY Language Immersion Program.

With a background in EFL training in Tokyo, Japan, Raoul has taught English to senior managers of multinational companies like Mitsubishi, Hitachi, and Sanyo Shokai.

He holds a B.A. in English from the University of Ottawa, a B.A.A. in Photography from Ryerson University in Toronto, and a M.A. in TESOL from CUNY Hunter College.

Raoul Calleja is dedicated to fostering a safe and inclusive classroom environment that respects racial, cultural, gender, and sexual identity diversity.

Apart from his teaching role at BMCC, he has previously taught at various institutions within the CUNY system including St. John's University, LaGuardia Community College, Baruch College, and City College of Technology.

Raoul has also been actively involved in organizations such as ID Pop Shop, Vernakular Photo Designs, and has held positions ranging from English instructor to creative director and curator.

His diverse educational background, professional experience, and commitment to diversity make him a valuable asset in the field of ESL education.
