Rasmus Herlo

PhD fellow at Molecular Neuropharmacology Lab

Rasmus Herlo is a dedicated neurobiologist with a strong foundation in molecular biology and biochemistry, driven by a profound interest in unraveling the complexities of the human mind and its underlying systems.

His expertise spans various facets of neuroscience, including investigating the impact of local dendritic translation defects on cognitive functions, exploring the role of protein aggregates in cognitive decline and neurodegeneration in Alzheimer's disease, and delving into the realm of emotional experiences and their connection to cognitive processes.

Currently pursuing a Ph.D. project under Prof. Ulrik Gether's guidance, Rasmus is focusing on studying the regulation of G-protein coupled receptors and NeuroTransmitter Transporters in neurons, alongside the involvement of cytosolic scaffolding proteins like N-BAR proteins and Amphipathic Helices.

Combining neurobiology, cell biology, and biophysics methodologies, Rasmus aims to unravel the intricate mechanisms governing these proteins' regulation and the physiological implications of potential dysregulations.

His career trajectory showcases experiences as a former research assistant at Aarhus University, an intern at the European Brain Research Institute in Rome, and a team leader at Maersk Logistics A/S, embodying a relentless pursuit of knowledge in the field of neurobiology and biochemistry.
