Highlights
Today marks my 10th anniversary at Glassdoor! 🎉
In 2013 I contacted a friend eager to join her at the startup I’d been using and following since living in NYC. Esther said there’s no job so referred me to Steve Roop. Kate Ahlering created a role for me in Matt Kessler’s Enterprise org where I learnt a lot from peers like John Ambrosino and Peter Durham.
Year 1 I was the lone non-US based GTM person but received SDR support from Devon Kehoe, CDR, Kelsey Mulflur and others who filled my calendar. My tasks were; educate the EMEA market and prove we should scale our presence.
To connect with colleagues I’d take monthly trips to Sausalito where I drank whiskey, DESTROYED Karaoke with Luke Stoddard and worked a bit too! Jokes aside, I was always made to feel special by my peers and our founders Robert Hohman and Tim Besse. They ensured I understood the culture and WHY Glassdoor exists.
Joe Wiggins, Kira Dewey and I found a tiny office to work from and support each other in our very different roles. We shared belief in the company mission and the responsibility we had to the business’ growth internationally under Diarmuid Russell.
Lauren Wright lead EMEA Sales and we assembled a stellar team of sellers including Brett Sherrard and David Soraghan. Dave Brown was the first CSM and supported me in meetings across Europe. Agency legend Leanne Kehoe and SDR legend Lauren Heying helped me become the first to close 1 million in New Business revenues. I had low moments but also had highs including stepping into leadership, opening offices and leading teams in Hamburg, Paris, Dublin and London. There’s also been some brilliant Presidents Club trips to Hawaii a few times and Mexico.
13 years ago as the first international GTM employee at Indeed I experienced the buzz of working at a startup being acquired. Six years later in the same position at Glassdoor I experienced another Recruit Holdings Co., Ltd. unicorn acquisition. 🎉
I have to thank the XFN teams I partner with for helping me achieve the successes and tenure I have. The teams I’ve lead, teams I’m a part of and all the folks on those teams like Michael Carnevale who’ve helped me become a better leader, I cannot thank you all enough. Seeing the growth of team members like Paul Baker and the step into leadership for Alastair Walters, Paul Field and Caroline Bracken fills me with pride for the small contributions I made.
I was asked recently what I love about working here. It’s the people. Christian Sutherland-Wong and Owen Humphries for me have always been approachable and open to chats about business, wellbeing and even parenthood. Our GTM leader Valerie Roush takes it a level further and is a genuinely good human and leader who always makes time for her people. I’m happy, I smile and I laugh most days which is down to my team and the people I work with. Without doubt I’m thankful and grateful for that and look forward to more years of change, challenges, growth, successes and good people.
Equity and representation. #iwd2024
