Happy Independence Day, #Israel! 🇮🇱

It is a hard one this year. So hard that we all cry trying to celebrate it. Your best boys and girls are still out there protecting you, Sacrificing everything they have until all that is left is to give their lives as a silver platter upon which you persevere.

You treasure the preservation of life above all. As your enemies glorify suicide, murder and rape. You strive towards equality for everyone. As one of the few places in the world where gay people can parade every year. As the only democratic country in the Middle-East to allow a variety of Arabic parties in the parliament and equal voting rights for everyone. Regardless of sex, color or religion.

In these tragic times, it is only too easy to fool the minds of the weak. As do the warmongers in Qatar and Iran, using billions of dollars to fuel their propaganda machines to disseminate disinformation. While they forge their new world order, they seek to numb the collective consciousness into forgetting that these principles of liberty are rare commodities in the Middle-East and Africa. As an oasis of intellect and progress in a desert of darkness.

Lest we forget that you, Israel, are still the only country in the Middle-East allowing true transparent democracy and equality. While in your neighborhood women are punishable by public lashes for being "disobedient" and homosexuals are brutally murdered for their sexual preferences.

As antisemitism raises its ugly head yet again, threatening to annihilate the Jewish people, we must not forget this would not be our first rodeo as a people:

The Egyptians tried annihilating the Jewish people, but instead we brought the world the story of auto-emancipation that we tell from generation to generation every Passover. The Greek tried to annihilate us, and we commemorate our resistence through Hannukah. The Romans tried to annihilate us - destroying the holy temple and banishing the Jewish people from their land. We meditate over that on Tisha-Be'av. The Persians planned a global genocide, and we celebrate its overturn through laughter, joy and costume parties on Purim. The Germans murdered 6,000,000 of us, and our survivors founded the state of Israel. Seven Arabic countries tried to annihilate infant Israel, immediately after the U.N acknowledged it as the Jewish homeland. We won yet again, and we celebrate it on this, and every other Independence Day. We know that, As Ben-Gurion put it: "the first war we lose would also be our last".

And so, with a heavy heart, let us all remember the importance of celebrating Israel's Independence Day, even if it's only to show our children that our spirits have not yet been broken.

For "as long as inside our hearts A Jewish soul still yearns, And onward towards East Our eye onlooks Zion Our hope has not yet been lost. The hope of 2,000 years - To be a free people in our land Land of Zion and Jerusalem"

Happy 76th birthday my love ❤️

Last night my life was saved in Israel by the best defense technologies in the world. It was a brilliantly coordinated coalition effort by Israeli, UK and US military forces. The battleground took place on the ground, in the sea, in the sky and in space. 36 cruise missiles, 185 drones, and 110 ballistic missiles were heading our way from Iran. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards launched their weapons towards places holy to Muslims, Christians and Jews. They crossed over Arabic countries who intercepted their projectiles. They were headed towards densely populated Muslim Arab areas inside Israel.

For 16 minutes, highly trained fighter pilots, flying F-35 jets with special munitions, battled drones and cruise missiles. They were supported by David’s Sling and Iron Dome aerial defense systems that caught the ones that slipped through. Meanwhile, hypersonic anti-ballistic Arrow missiles stopped ICBMs in space. The attack from over a thousand kilometers away, was historically unprecedented, and so was the response. 99% of all projectiles were thwarted out of harm's way.

For this I salute our brothers and sisters in arms from Britain, U.S and Jordan. I am well aware that the coalition included more members of Centcom that cannot be mentioned here, and I thank you all for your service. As Churchill once told British pilots:

"Never was so much owed by so many to so few"

God bless you all!  🇺🇸 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 🇯🇴 🇦🇪 🇮🇱
