Swisscontact Bangladesh presented "𝗙𝗮𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲" - an event on showcasing role of Swisscontact and exchanging knowledge and strategies in upskilling Ready-Made Garments (RMG) workers in Bangladesh on 15 July 2024.

This event showcased the experience and learning from Swisscontact’s three skills development projects, Sarathi (https://lnkd.in/dvm-XMjj), PROGRESS (https://lnkd.in/gkuXjWcB), and BYETS (https://lnkd.in/g7Xh_pmz) in RMG industry, while bringing out scopes for the future - especially looking forward to Bangladesh's upcoming transition from Least Developed Country (LDC) and related implications for RMG industry.

As Cezanne Mujibul Hasan stated, "𝘈𝘴 𝘉𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘩 𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘓𝘋𝘊 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘸𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴-𝘷𝘪𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧-𝘴𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘦𝘹𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘵 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘔𝘎 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘺 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘦".

One key all-agreed future scope for the Bangladeshi RMG industry was well articulated by Md. Akhter Hossain Apurbo, who stated, "𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘔𝘎 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘳𝘴. 𝘈𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘪𝘥-𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘶𝘱𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘰𝘳 𝘧𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘣𝘰𝘯 𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴".

The future holds strong challenges for RMG industry in Bangladesh. It requires a consorted holistic effort from all the private-public-development stakeholders to sustainably defend those challenges.

Bhomra Land Port in Satkhira (https://lnkd.in/gmFQiVQE) goes digital! This marks a landmark in Bangladesh's trade facilitation and modernisation efforts!

This modern e-Port Management System (https://lnkd.in/gtZ_TRiM), a part of an ongoing collaborative effort from the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation, Swisscontact and Bangladesh Land Port Authority, aims at streamlining trade management at key land border crossings in Bangladesh and digitalising relevant port services to reduce delays and congestions at the Land Ports (https://lnkd.in/ghNBGzG5).

Trade needs to be inclusive. International trade, while it entails global and regional political, economic, social and technological advancements, cannot leave them behind at the local level - where it all begins, as such, at a remote land border crossing between India and Bangladesh. So, thinking globally, needs actions locally, and the Bhomra e-Port management system marks a great example of promoting inclusive trade.
