Rebecca Hart

Contemporary Art Curator

Rebecca Ruth Hart is the Vicki and Kent Logan Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Denver Museum of Art, a position she has held since fall 2015. With a rich background in art curation and exhibition organization, she has curated numerous exhibitions showcasing contemporary artists and their exploration of themes like place and identity.

Prior to her role in Denver, Rebecca was the associate curator and department head of contemporary art at the Detroit Institute of Arts. She has a wealth of experience in organizing exhibitions, including the Shirin Neshat mid-career retrospective in Detroit and Seoul, as well as facilitating Matthew Barney's performances for the film RIVER OF FUNDAMENT.

Rebecca Hart's educational background is equally impressive, holding a Bachelor of Arts in art history from Williams College, a Bachelor of Fine Arts in fiber from the Kansas City Art Institute, a Master of Fine Arts in fiber from the Cranbrook Academy of Arts, and a Master of Arts in art history from Wayne State University. Her dedication to art historical research has been recognized through prestigious awards from organizations like the National Endowment for the Arts and the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.

An expert in public art and large-scale sculpture, Hart has made significant contributions to the curation of various exhibitions across different institutions, focusing on regionalism in the twenty-first century and contemporary art's engagement with urban spaces. Her work reflects a deep understanding of art history and a passion for showcasing the diverse voices within the art world.
