Highlights
Happy to share that I have obtained a new certification from the MIT Sloan School of Management - Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy. I offer a special thanks to Professor Thomas Malone, Professor Daniela Rus, and Professor Regina Barzilay. My deepest appreciation is extended to Rodrigo Garcia Saiz for his learning mentorship throughout the program.
When individuals spend the bulk of their career in one profession, I have heard it said that we should at least listen when they voice an opinion about that profession. My profession is, and has been throughout my career, education. I hope you will seriously consider my thoughts that follow. I am honored to share the Modern Classrooms Project (MCP) with all educators. It is the best instructional delivery model I have seen that works for all K-12 educators. I believe it is the future of education instruction. This program has accomplished things that many educators, including me, have tried to do for years. It is being used effectively by teachers in all grade levels and in every content area. It has been said that teachers feel like they have “cloned themselves in the classroom” in so many ways, often relieving much of the stress that occurs there. The model uses technology for blended instruction, provides for self-pacing so that teachers can reach all students in their classrooms, and incorporates mastery techniques to ensure students learn needed concepts before advancing. I am pleased that education researchers at the Center for Research and Reform in Education at Johns Hopkins University agree with me as I write these thoughts. I realize that there may be skeptics who read this and think, “Okay, just one more flash in the pan of education initiatives." They may think they have heard about lots of research and are just not sure what to believe. Well, regardless of your thoughts on that topic, perhaps seeing is believing for you. While evidence that the MCP model works for high school students has existed for some time, the elementary version has just been released. This short video, newly produced by Edutopia, is worth the time of any school district superintendent, school principal, and instructional coach. But most of all, if you are a teacher (or preservice teacher soon to be practicing), I hope you will take five minutes to view this video of the Modern Classrooms Project in action. I believe it is inspiring. #education #educationresearch #teachers #students #superintendents #principals #
