He began his career as an analyst at a Wall Street investment bank, where he quickly rose through the ranks to become a VP of Trading. After several years in the banking industry, Rex shifted gears and moved into the world of private equity, where he currently serves as a managing director for a top-tier firm. In this role, he is responsible for sourcing, analyzing, and executing investment opportunities across a range of industries, including technology, healthcare, and consumer products. Over the course of his career, Rex has established a broad network of industry contacts and has developed a reputation for his ability to identify promising investment opportunities and add value to portfolio companies. In addition to his work in finance, he is an avid traveler and enjoys exploring new cultures and cuisines.

Sorry for the long post!
Thanks to the many of you that have reached out over the last week since the announcement of my planned departure from Wolfspeed at the end of March. After 30 rewarding years in the semiconductor industry I have decided to take a break in the action for the next 1-2 years to spend more time with family and friends, pursue some of my lifelong passions and figure out what’s next. I certainly have some mixed emotions as I take this step, but mostly I am filled with gratitude for being able serve as a leader of so many brilliant, talented and dedicated teammates during an era where semiconductors have reshaped the way we work, play and interact with one another.
After graduating from Purdue I started as a shift manufacturing supervisor at TI in the Houston Bipolar Wafer Fab in Stafford, Texas in February 1993. I remember well that small team of operators and technicians whom I learned so much from my first couple of years. I was also very fortunate to work for some incredible leaders and mentors who lit my path my first 15 years in the industry, amongst them Frank Ballejo, Steve Walker, and Randy Grimes to name a few.
In the last 15 years as I moved to larger roles I have been inspired by a number of visionary leaders. Paul Fego who believed in me and gave me my first Fab Manager job at TI. Bill Guggina who brought me to Delphi Automotive to lead the global operations for infotainment, autonomous driving and electric powertrain. Finally, thanks to Gregg Lowe for bringing me to Wolfspeed and entrusting me to lead our Global Operations team. The leadership team I leave behind led by Missy Stigall, Adam Milton, Tom Agron, Lisa Fritz, Joy Roybal and Jeff Ferraro is World Class and with our OnePack culture will guide the company to the next phase of operational growth in Silicon Carbide, enabling massive growth in electric vehicles.
What I will remember most though are the thousands of operators, technicians and engineers that have inspired me every day. My walks around the factory meeting each of you always energized me. I will always be in awe of the technical and operational problems I witnessed these teams solve over the last three decades.
My family led by my wife Brandi has enabled me every step of the way, through 5 long distance relocations and countless weeks of separation, she is the main reason our girls Katie and Grace are the young women they are today. Please stay in touch. Our new home base is going to be Holden Beach, NC. If you’re looking for me I’ll probably be fishing somewhere on the North Carolina coast or at a Philadelphia Eagles game!
