Ricardo Echalar is an International Development and Public Health professional with expertise in infectious diseases, epidemiology, health security, One Health, emergency preparedness, and public health communication and advocacy.

He has a strong background in global health, working in Latin America, the Caribbean, Sub-Saharan Africa, and SE Asia, with a proven track record of success in leading diverse teams and engaging multi-sectoral partners.

With a bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, Ricardo has a rich educational background, including a focus on Epidemiology/International Health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, an MPH in Epidemiology from Tulane University, and a BS in Health Sciences from James Madison University.

Throughout his career, Ricardo has held various key roles in prestigious organizations, such as USAID, World Health Organization, FHI 360, and other international health institutions, where he led and contributed to programs in Technical and Program Management, Multi-stakeholder Engagement, Communication and Advocacy, Epidemiology, Health Security, Emergency Management, and International Affairs.

His experience includes positions like Regional Emerging Threats Advisor, Senior Public Health Advisor, Global Health Security Advisor, International Human Health Specialist, Program Manager, Technical Manager, Pandemic and Infectious Disease Technical Officer, Pandemic Communications Coordinator, Emergency Operations Center Officer, and Health Program Specialist.

Ricardo's expertise spans across National Security, Biodefense, Humanitarian Affairs, and Emergency Preparedness, making him a well-rounded professional capable of delivering pragmatic and effective results in complex and challenging environments.
