I know how tempting it is to think of tools like generative AI as a magical fix to our data problems. But the truth is, there isn’t a universal solution, and honestly, there probably will never be.
Why? Here’s an example: imagine you have a pile of puzzle pieces from different boxes mixed together. Now, you bring in a super-advanced robot (Generative AI) to put the puzzles together. Without knowing which pieces go with which puzzle (the context), the robot will struggle to make sense of the mess.
Similarly, generative AI can't magically understand the context missing from different data sources. It can't comprehend the real-world complexity that real people who use the analysis deal with daily.
Instead of looking for a quick fix, start at the source: clean, well-organized data. We need to understand how our data interacts, how it reflects the real world, and how it will be used by our partners.
Generative AI is an incredibly powerful tool, but like any tool, it's only as good as the material it has to work with.
