Richard Loyen has built an impressive career dedicated to advancing the renewable energy sector, particularly solar energy, since 1995. His professional journey commenced at the CLER (Comité de Liaison des Energies Renouvelables), where he worked for four years as a documentalist and later as a project leader. In 1998, he made a significant impact by leading a project called "Défi Jeune," aimed at electrifying a village in Senegal, showcasing his commitment to sustainable energy solutions on an international scale.
In 1999, Richard transitioned to ENERPLAN, the professional association for solar energy in France, where he made remarkable contributions as Délégué Général (General Delegate). His leadership helped to unify various stakeholders in the solar market and push for innovative policies that promote the use of solar energy.
From 2006 to late 2008, alongside his role at ENERPLAN, Richard also served as Délégué Général of Qualit’EnR, an organization focused on the qualification of renewable energy installers in France. Under his guidance, Qualit’EnR became the leading professional qualification body in Europe for renewable energy installers, boasting more than 12,000 certified businesses by 2019. Upon completing his tenure, he continued to play a vital role in the governance of Qualit’EnR, currently serving on its Bureau and Board of Directors, where he has been the President of the Communication Committee and Delegated to Public Affairs since October 2019.
In 2017, Richard founded the association Les Festins Photoniques, a unique initiative aimed at promoting solar cooking. This endeavor reflects his understanding that food can be a powerful medium for raising awareness about ecological transition and fostering community engagement. Leading the association as its President, he has cultivated an environment where culinary experiences meet sustainability, advocating for solar solutions vocally and creatively.
