Richard Lumb is a dedicated scientist and social entrepreneur with a strong focus on the impact of medical science and technology on society. His active interests include genomics, oncology (particularly metastatic cancer), precision medicine, and data science, aiming to leverage life sciences technologies for the betterment of society, especially for individuals facing serious illnesses.

Driven by the personal experience of losing his father to mesothelioma in 2009, Richard's outlook on life and work was fundamentally altered. This profound event fueled his passion to make genomics more accessible and beneficial to patients.

Richard Lumb currently serves as the CEO of Front Line Genomics, a socially-motivated organization that he founded in 2014. The organization is dedicated to accelerating the delivery of genomic benefits to patients. Front Line Genomics hosts the renowned Festival of Genomics, the world's largest genomics event, and creates digital content, reports, webinars, and free-to-access resources for the genomics community.

Richard's extensive academic background includes a PhD in Biochemistry/Cell Biology from The University of Manchester, an MSc in Management from Lancaster University, and a BSc in Physiology from the University of Liverpool.

Throughout his career, Richard Lumb has held key positions at various organizations, including being the Founder & CEO of Front Line Genomics, an Advisory Board Member at the Personal Genetics Education Project, Managing Director (Life Sciences) at Hanson Wade, Conference Director (Life Sciences) at Terrapinn, Conference Producer at IntertechPira, Managing Director (London South West) at X Factor Dates, Department/Project Manager at Sainsburys, and involved in Operations Management at Tesco.
