He holds an impressive educational background, including a Ph.D. in Finance and Insurance, an M.A. in Managerial Economics from The Wharton School, and a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Minnesota.

Throughout his career, Richard Phillips has been associated with reputable organizations and institutions, such as serving as the Dean of the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University.
