Rick's educational background includes a Master's degree in Leraar Voorbereidend Hoger Onderwijs in Maatschappijleer en Maatschappijwetenschappen from VU University Amsterdam, a Master's degree in Conflict Studies from Radboud University, a Minor in Centre for International Conflict Analysis and Management (CICAM) within Conflict Studies at Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen, and a Bachelor's degree in Cultural Anthropology and Development Studies from Radboud University.

Throughout his career, Rick has been associated with various organizations in different capacities. He has served as a Docent Maatschappijleer at Johan van Oldenbarnevelt Gymnasium and previously at Ignatius Gymnasium Amsterdam. He has also held the position of Editor-in-Chief at De Brug magazine at SIVMO, Campaigner/Junior Advocacy Officer at War Child Holland, Research and Publications Officer at Een Ander Joods Geluid, Intern at the Political Department at the Netherlands Embassy at Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken, Intern at the 'Israel Sixty Years' project at Een Ander Joods Geluid, and Archivist at CIZ, Centrum indicatiestelling zorg.
