Riley Rice

Riley Rice is a graduate student based in Eugene, OR, with a focus on Journalism and Visual Storytelling.

With roots in the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe, Riley hails from the Umpqua Valley and is deeply connected to the outdoors.

Aside from academic pursuits, Riley excels as an expedition climber and mountaineering instructor, spanning terrains from Alaska to Patagonia.

Riley's passion lies in leveraging visual and narrative storytelling to advocate for causes close to their heart, such as public land advocacy, climate change, and Indigenous rights.

Academically, Riley holds a Bachelor's degree in Physical and Biological Anthropology from Yale University and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Journalism at the University of Oregon.

Professionally, Riley has experience as a Freelance Journalist and has worked as a Mountaineering, Rock Climbing, and Backcountry Ski Instructor at NOLS, along with being a Visual Storyteller in self-employment.
