Rob Barbara is a Managing Partner at Build Ventures, a venture capital firm based in Atlantic Canada, with a focus on emerging technology companies. With two decades of experience in investment management and capital markets, Rob plays a key role in offering strategic guidance and financial support to the portfolio companies of Build Ventures, which manages $120 million.
Prior to his current role, Rob held progressively senior positions at Burgundy Asset Management, a global investment management firm, including the founding of its sister company, Beaujolais Private Investment Management. At Burgundy, he served as a senior vice president overseeing private client business and as a board director. Before his tenure at Burgundy, Rob also gained experience in various capital markets roles at TD Securities.
Apart from his work in investment management, Rob is a successful startup entrepreneur, having co-founded eSalveo, a medical IT startup that was acquired in 2001. He holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business and undergraduate and Master's degrees in Economics from Queen's University. Rob is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.
