Rob Baum is currently a principal at Pacific Audio Consulting, where he oversees navigating the consumer electronics supply chain from design to production, including sourcing, mechanical/acoustical design, manufacturing, R&D, and production testing.

During his tenure at Microsoft, Rob was primarily focused on webcams and headsets for VoIP, including Lync/Unified Communications, managing the complete process from specification, sourcing, design, to testing and manufacturing of products like LifeChat LX-1000, LifeChat LX-4000, LX-6000 Headsets, and LifeCam Cinema webcam.

He has extensive experience working closely with Tier 1/2/3 suppliers in China, often autonomously in Asia, dealing with Xbox Accessories, audio testing, measurements, troubleshooting, mic sub-assembly design review, and noise and vibration reduction.

Apart from his technology-focused roles, Rob co-founded a niche nutrition company with a medical doctor, resulting in patents for licensing in health, wellness, and medical markets.

In his consultancy role, Rob and his firm collaborate with various entities, including technology suppliers, contract manufacturers, industrial design firms, and investors, offering technical and business due diligence in the consumer electronics industry.

Rob Baum holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in Finance from New York University. He also actively engages in sharing his expertise by presenting technical tutorials at industry events like Infocomm and ALMA's annual conference.
