Made your Edinburgh Fringe list yet? Here are three top tips for Summerhall Roundabout which I caught recently at the Belgrade’s ‘See It First’ season.
Tones: A Hip Hop Opera. Gerel Falconer’s very personal exploration of Black-British class, culture and belonging is a tough watch in places.
Main Character Energy. Maybe avoid eye contact with Temi Wilkey for this one, though that won’t be easy.
My Mother’s Funeral. A play about making a play, within a play. A really clever and multi-layered, jokey yet poignant work from Kelly Jones (and one which a certain type of Artistic Director, and a few Arts Council funding assessors will just love..!)
Yet again, well done Belgrade Theatre and Paines Plough.
