Highlights
As we close out the summer (unofficially), I thought to share something that really resonated with me. It has to do with culture. It's often said that culture eats strategy for breakfast. I could not agree more. To that end, I enjoy the culture Jack Henry has built over the years. It is a culture that is resilient, having stood the test of time. At the same time, it is a culture most are very protective of. I have come to understand not everyone will thrive in our culture. That is okay however for those who do thrive in this culture, it's likely the best you will ever experience. There are many attributes of the culture that are fantastic. For instance, collaboration is a key part of what makes us thrive. That being said, we learn, grow and succeed together. At the same time, we experience challenge and overcome them together too.
Earlier this year, I attended the wedding of the daughter of one of my colleagues. This family had been through much adversity in the past year. To that end, I was able to take part in a truly bittersweet moment. A moment where a young woman took a young man's hand in marriage. Only she did so in the absence of her mom who lost her battle with cancer not even a year earlier.
- Spoiler Alert, stay with me here, and I'll explain how maybe mom was there after all.
As I sat there taking it all in, I noted it was raining. Also I noted people were out dancing in the rain. Dancing without a care in the world. Then suddenly I looked to see not just a rainbow, but a double rainbow. I remember saying to my wife, this is what life is all about. How we get to share in life's moments at work, outside of work, but we are doing this together. All this to say how much I value the relationships I have with my colleagues not just on a professional level but on a personal level too.

Does anyone remember this? I sure do. I was in 7th grade. My dad, Bob Zelinka, made me a bet I'm sure he thought he would never lose.
He said, Rob, if you get straight A's in school, I'll buy you this computer you want. I got straight A's. He lost the bet, and $2000 later, I had my first ever PC. $2000 was a lot of money for our family back in 1981. That said, it turned out to be a good investment for us as that lit a fire in me which burns to this day.
I'm always looking for ways to be at the intersection of people and technology. Seeking ways to improve the human to human experience. 40 years later, I'm now fascinated with how Gen AI is a game changer for this.
Thank you again dad for supporting my dreams even when you doubted my ability to be successful.
