Robert Grossman-Vermaas

Robert Grossman-Vermaas is a seasoned conflict, stabilization, operations, humanitarian assistance, PVE/CVE, and monitoring & evaluation specialist with over 15 years of experience in conflict, post-conflict, fragile, and transitioning environments.

He has worked with esteemed clients such as USAID, Department of State (DoS), Department of Defense (DoD), DfID, EU, SIDA, and the US intelligence community, leading large-scale conflict assessment, resilience, CVE, and stabilization/transition programs.

Robert has served as Chief of Party or Team Leader on USAID programs, spearheaded innovative third-party monitoring and atmospherics projects, and held the role of Technical Director for the Measuring Progress in Conflict Environments (MPICE) program sponsored by DoS, USAID, and DoD.

His expertise extends to program evaluations for USG counter-terrorism initiatives, conflict assessments, evaluations, and verification activities in various countries including Syria, Afghanistan, Colombia, Somalia, Iraq, Sudan, DR Congo, Ethiopia, and Yemen.

He has also acted as a Senior Technical Advisor for monitoring programs in Syria, Somalia, and Yemen, with a focus on designing impactful programs and imparting knowledge to others through publications and extensive field experience.

Robert Grossman-Vermaas holds an active USG TS clearance with SCI access and has a strong academic background, including Master's studies in Military Studies/History at The University of Calgary and pursuing a PhD in War Studies at King's College London, University of London.

Previously, he has held key positions at reputable organizations such as The Bloomsbury Group, LLC; International Business and Technical Consultants, Inc. (IBTCI); NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT); Logos Technologies; HQ ISAF; Department of National Defence, Canada; UK Joint Services Command and Staff College; Defense Science and Technology Laboratory, Ministry of Defense, UK; Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Canada; and US Department of Defense (DoD).
