Did you know that a 30% delivery capacity gap will occur on the last mile in 2030?

📦 In the last decade, the number of parcels per year tripled – and it is still growing. In 2030, it is predicted that the number of German parcels per year will correspond to around 55 times the world's circumcircle. Combined with rising sustainability awareness and regulations, a 30% delivery capacity gap is the result. Our latest paper, "Last Mile Delivery 2030," dives into the key elements needed for a successful strategy to close this significant gap:   ▶️ Adaptation to urban constraints: Innovative solutions tailored to city landscapes, regulatory frameworks, and sustainability goals   ▶️ The right mix of delivery modes: Incorporating concepts like cargo bikes, parcel stations, and autonomous delivery   ▶️ Improvement of efficiency and processes: Utilizing intelligent route planning and enhancing logistics operations through technology   ▶️ Stakeholder collaboration: Essential cooperation between shippers, carriers, consumers, and cities to develop effective delivery solution   Which additional approach do you see to close the gap?   If you're interested in transforming your last-mile delivery strategy or exploring sustainable and innovative solutions, let’s connect! 🚀 Just returning from “MobiCon 2024” in Berlin. Thanks to the TÜV-Verband for the invitation! The conference excelled this year with a new name, a great location, and a fresh motto.

🌟 It was an incredible opportunity to explore the future of mobility and the innovative solutions driving it forward.

❗ Here are my most memorable takeaways:

📍 Freie und Hansestadt Hamburg Mobility Vision by Transport Senator Anjes Tjarks: The “Hamburg Takt” initiative aims for 85% of Hamburg residents to have access to public transport every 5 minutes within a 5-minute walk. The remaining 15% can rely on on-demand services integrated with the existing public transport system.

🔋 Uber's Electric Shift outlined by Christoph Weigler: Uber customers are willing to wait 5 minutes longer for an electric vehicle instead of a combustion engine car. The target is for ~50% of rides to be electric next year.

🚘 Enterprise Mobility's MaaS strategy by James Lancaster: Enterprise Mobility is making advancements in MaaS and electric mobility. Enterprise operates in 49 countries across Europe with a fleet of over 300,000 vehicles.

🚐 MOIA's keynote by CEO Sascha Meyer: The driver costs constitute ~60% of on-demand shuttle expenses and the huge long-term potential for autonomous services to reduce these costs.

📊 Mobility Data Act presented by German Transport Minister Volker Wissing Bundesministerium für Digitales und Verkehr: Emphasizing the importance of the Mobility Data Act for developing innovative mobility solutions. This legislation aims to provide better travel and infrastructure data, essential for advancements in AI and other technologies.

🤝 Collaboration is Key: Successful future mobility solutions require cooperation between politics, businesses, public transport, and society.

Let’s drive towards a sustainable and efficient mobility future! 🚀🌍

Thanks to a great Porsche Consulting team being present at the event: Dr. Matthias Tewes, Tanja Weber (geb. Reisenauer), Anabel Beatrice Werk, Jan Klütsch!
