Roger Luo is a seasoned entrepreneur and Founder & Managing Partner of Embedding VC, an early-stage venture fund in Silicon Valley specializing in backing Generative AI startups.

With a background in AI, machine learning, and engineering, Roger has co-founded two AI SaaS startups and has held leadership roles in machine learning and applied science teams at tech giants like Niantic, Snap, and Yahoo! Labs.

Roger earned his PhD in machine learning in 2011 and has a strong academic background with over 40 papers published in top AI/ML conferences and journals, along with 6 US patents in AI.

Not only is Roger an active angel investor and venture scout/partner, but he also co-founded and manages the Engineering Leaders Community Angels syndicate, connecting thousands of Silicon Valley engineering leaders.

His extensive education includes a Doctor of Philosophy in Artificial Intelligence from EPFL, along with stints as a visiting student researcher at ETH Zürich and MIT. He also holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from KTH Royal Institute of Technology.

Throughout his career, Roger has been associated with various organizations, including roles such as Founder & Managing Partner at Embedding VC, Director of Machine Learning at Niantic, Co-Founder at Eve, and Senior Engineering Manager at Snap Inc., among others.
