Roger Young

Roger Young is a semi-retired professional with a diverse background in law, politics, arbitration, and mediation. He served as a Member of Parliament for Niagara Falls from 1974 to 1979 and held various parliamentary positions, including Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General. He also worked as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Solicitor General of Canada. In the early 1980s, he transitioned to roles such as Chief of Staff to the Government House Leader and President of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada. From 1984 to 1991, he served on the Public Service Staff Relations Board, presiding over numerous grievance cases between the federal government and unionized employees. Starting in 1991, Roger established himself as an independent arbitrator and mediator, specializing in workplace disputes in the private sector. He has been recognized as an approved Ontario roster Arbitrator for expedited arbitration, handling cases for federal public institutions and offering consultancy services, including investigations of workplace harassment complaints. Roger was instrumental in founding the Canadian Decoy & Outdoor Collectible Association in 1996, where he served as the Executive Director. Throughout the years, he has held leadership positions in various organizations, such as being a Board Member and President of a condo corporation in Ottawa and Director and President of a cottage lake association. Presently, Roger's interests lie in collecting antiques, particularly model canoes and kayaks, vintage hunting decoys, native art, and artifacts. He actively follows Internet sales and auctions, expanding his collections and expertise. Roger is renowned for his work in gathering early North American canoe factory 'display samples', authoring magazine articles, and appearing on television shows. He offers comprehensive appraisals for income tax certificates, aids in museum donations in Canada and the US, and provides insurance valuations for private collections. Additionally, he assists in organizing public displays and offers consulting and identification services.
