Why fight xenophobia, when you can celebrate xenophilia?

Raised on different continents, The Xenophiles believe in the power of all that is peculiar, foreign, strange, and original. The Xenophiles are four writers: Vamba Sherif, the Liberian-Kuwaiti scholar from Groningen, Julie Phillips, the American who speaks Dutch with a Frisian accent, Amal Chatterjee, the Indian Sri-Lankan who arrived from Glasgow and Richard de Nooy, the Dutchman who still swears like a South African on his bike.

At De Balie they will reflect on the theme utopia's with essays and dialogues. Guest writer will be novelist Jing-Jing Lee (known from the book How We Dissapeared).

We invite you to join our movement this Sunday 16.30 at De Balie.

(And your host will be me: a Dutch-Senegalese woman with lots of nostalgia for my hometown Groningen)
