Dr. Roland Stephen is a seasoned professional with 25 years of leadership experience in science and technology program management, policy analysis, program design, and program evaluation. His expertise lies in enhancing the economic and social impact of technology, innovation, and skilled workforce initiatives through strategic initiatives.

Throughout his career, Dr. Stephen has been involved in various high-impact projects, such as overseeing a multi-year program supporting the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics (NCSES) at NSF, collaborating on R&D program management processes with the Polish National Center for Research and Development, and spearheading innovative projects at the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Department of Energy. His work primarily focuses on the intersection of technological advancements, innovation, workforce development, and economic prosperity.

Before his tenure at SRI International, Dr. Stephen served as an Associate Professor at North Carolina State University, where he played a key role in establishing the Institute for Emerging Issues. He actively contributed to analyzing and promoting technology-based economic development, aligning higher education institutions with state economic development objectives, and nurturing technology-intensive enterprises to facilitate growth.

Dr. Stephen holds a Ph.D. in International and Comparative Political Economy from UCLA and a Bachelor's degree in History and Economics from the University of Cambridge, UK. His educational background, combined with his extensive professional experience, has equipped him with a profound understanding of policy analysis, economic development, and technology management.
