Highlights
Post EU Election day an unpopular opinion: I actually do like that there is so much regulation & consumer protection.
While it has been become fashionable to complain about overburdening regulation (which clearly can happen) the net effects are still extremely positive.
I do like that
- people can call & browse across countries and not pay a fortune
- that food needs to be labelled and people are informed what they eat leading to low obesity rates
- prescription drugs can't be advertised so that we don't have high addiction rates seen across other developed countries
- even some of the tech regulation is very much warranted
I think the biggest problem comes from the fact that a lot of the regulation is outdated and is not kept up-to-date or not harmonized (think notaries, capital markets etc.)
Why not putting a time frame on every regulation that would end automatically unless it gets proactively renewed?
Regardless: Very thankful to be living in a place where you can vote and public opinion on matters gets heard!
