Highlights
💥📢 HOLOPLOT has been acquired by Sphere Entertainment Co. (Madison Square Garden Company) 💥📢
I am truly excited to share that our long-term partner and shareholder Madison Square Garden Company has acquired HOLOPLOT through Sphere Entertainment Co. (NYSE: SPHR).
This is fantastic news to our teams, customers and partners, because it means that HOLOPLOT can accelerate its growth plans for the future, while now being backed by the resources of a public company and leader in its category, with whom we share the vision of changing entertainment and audio experiences forever. The business will keep operating as usual from Berlin and expand even more so now, globally and into more markets and segments.
The HOLOPLOT journey so far has been incredibly exciting, rewarding and I am not gonna lie, challenging as well. I remember the early days in 2016 when I took over the company, basically bankrupt and indebted, with no product and a small team of 5 in a military barrack in Potsdam… and then me joining, never having built a single speaker in my life 😆 It was an insane amount of fun, although frankly in the dark days there were also moments of doubt. But experiencing our tech in action regularly gave me confidence that this one day will be a game changer. A few years, a pandemic, a supply chain crisis, and a couple of other big hurdles later, we have certainly achieved at least some of that.
But the non surprising truth is, I could have never done any of that by myself. The real lifting was done by the incredible team which was there from the beginning or joined over the years. I am SO incredibly proud and thankful for the whole HOLOPLOT crew, not only because everyone has put so much heart and dedication into building this company, but also because every single person has helped to shape and maintain a truly remarkable culture of trust, ownership and ambition. I think this is our biggest achievement. There is no way I can name everyone who had profound impact, so please forgive me, but special gratitude goes to Helmut, Adrián, Michael, Juliane, Michael, François, Bram, Phil, Ryan, Ginetta, Ennio, Magdalena, Nico, Natalia, Emad, Evert, Daniel M., Sebastian, Mert AND MANY MORE!
HOLOPLOT now enters a new chapter, which I believe has enormous potential for the company and the industry, and I am very curious to see where it will go. For me personally it’s a special moment in my life, which after giving it 8 years of my undivided attention and energy, is a unique opportunity to gain some flexibility and take a breather. I hence decided to transition out of the CEO position into an advisory role by the end of this month, still supporting the company and team with all my heart, but rather from the side lines than spearheading the daily operations. It’s a strange mix of feelings to somehow let go, but I am very excited about this change and next step in my life. A new phase of growth and opportunity.
Thank you team HOLOPLOT. Thank you team Sphere.
Bono: ”The entire building is a speaker, wherever you are, you will have perfect sound”
The Edge: "The sound has been designed as a priority, best sound I am sure we’ll ever hear"
It gives me incredibly excitement to see the years-long work of MSG and HOLOPLOT finally coming to life. This venue and the audio experience specifically will be a transformative moment to live sound and immersive experiences. It's incomparable to anything done ever before in terms of scale, ambition and quality. U2, as one of the most successful and experiential bands of all times, opening the venue in September is another statement by itself for this mindblowing project.
I couldn't be more proud of the fantastic and maybe a bit crazy team at HOLOPLOT who has made this insane project a reality. When we started, there was nothing. Together we experienced many moments in which we thought that we couldn't make it...This year it will be the most impressive venue and audio installation of humanity.
Almost there...let's keep pushing everyone!
