There are massive protests for Palestine around the world calling for cease fire, but digging a bit deeper reveals much more.

For example, at the Brooklyn Bridge protest today the 2 front-leading message were:

"Honor the martyrs of Palestine" "By any necessary means"

Martyrs? Who? The Hamas monsters who beheaded children, raped women, butchered over a 1000 innocent, and captured 229 civilians?

"By any means necessary"? As in carrying such atrocities?

The world has become a bi-partizan place with no room for nuanced positions so naturally liberal people tend to favor the weak side.

If you care for more depth then here are 9 points for pondering:

  1. The Palestinian-Israeli conflict is in the backdrop of the current war, but today's war is 100% against the Hamas. Not the Palestinians. It's the same war we had against ISIS. You either support the Hamas or you are against it. No middle.

  2. Supporting blanket messages such as "Free Palestine" requires research first. Examine who stands behind it what they are actually saying:

  • Are they condemning the Oct 7 massacre?
  • Are they supporting the Hamas as a legitimate org that represents the Palestinians?
  • Are they just protesting against Israel and blaming it for everything (including the Oct 7 massacre itself)?
  1. Acknowledging the disaster that the Gazans are going through and supporting them is OK. But also remember that the Hamas uses the Palestinians as a human shield, hiding in tunnels under schools and hospitals. Fighting the Hamas leads to casualties. Google it and learn more.

  2. If you decide to call for a cease fire then that's OK, BUT you also need to suggest a different way to remove the Hamas. This problem will not disappear by itself. The Hamas just becomes stronger with every year that passes by. Avoiding the problem is exactly what led to the Oct 7 massacre, and the next attack will be even worse.

  3. Research and see who condemnd the Hamas and who condemned Israel. Think which countries usually better represent your values.

  4. Go the extra mile, read Israel's declaration of independence and the Hamas charter, and then decide which one better aligns with your values.

  5. Realize that the war here has a global aspect. Behind Hamas there are Iran and Russia and behind Israel there's the US (and some of Europe). Israel and US are fighting here against the proxy of Iran with the backing of Russia.

  6. Understand that Israel's existence is in jeopardy. As Biden said: "the world is watching". Israel's existence and success in the most dangerous neighborhood of the world over the past 75 years stands on its ability to deter its enemies from attacking. This deterence needs to be reestablished or Israel won't be able to exist.

  7. Finally, accept that it is OK to support prosperity for the Palestinians while also supporting Israel's fight against terror and for its existance. It's better than falling for simplistic narratives that favors the underdog bc it feels better.

This is nothing short of a historical speech. Whatever your political view is, President Biden has proven himself to be an amazing leader who chooses to be on the right side of history. If you care about history and leadership then watch this. The level of EQ here is astonishing. This single speech has just lifted an entire country (Israel) from 5700 miles away.
