Highlights
Last Friday, I travelled to the Wellcome Genome Campus to disseminate PrecisionLife’s work on the #Genetics of #MECFS and #LongCovid at InvestinME Research's international conference #IIMEC16. I was presenting on behalf of my colleagues Steve Gardner, Sayoni Das and Krystyna Taylor. They were in Salt Lake City Last week with our partners at Metrodora Institute advancing our #MetroPLex clinical study in MECFS.
I was just in time to hear Dr Vicky Whittemore of the NIH presenting the recent NIH Research Roadmap report and highlighting her excitement on the potential progress in in Genetics of ME/CFS https://lnkd.in/e43-2ni2. Steve Gardner provided evidence to the Genetics Session last November – it is available on Youtube here https://lnkd.in/eMKzeuQ2
It is always daunting presenting of behalf of colleagues, and delivering my first talk on ME/CFS in the same part of the agenda as Prof Ron Davis Stanford and Dr David Systrom Harvard Medicine focused my mind.
The Campus was looking wonderful with information boards reminding me of the people I knew 30 years ago at the beginning of the HGP adventure. As I reflected on a cornucopia of translational research and clinical trials plans discussed for diseases that effect millions of people living without effective treatments. I thought the words of the late John Sulston were very apposite.
Thank you to Janet Defoe for some the images below, and the people with MECFS and Long COVID who share their data so that we can advance our understanding of these conditions and find cures.
the first thing that I saw walking into #BIO2024 today was PrecisionLife newest strategic partners' logo.
I wish all of our partners a successful convention.
